El Fresco

El Fresco is a proposed design of a grocery store in Firebaugh, California. To celebrate the Latinx community, which is a primary demographic of the city, we chose a fusion of traditional Spanish (Pueblo Adobe) architecture and modern fixtures and graphics. Both exterior and interior walls feature Latinx culture themed murals with a modern twist, painted by the local artist Mauro Carrera. The restaurant and coffee shop are the main attractions of the store, meant to bring more revenue and to provide hot quick meals to the workers of the city. El Fresco carries local fresh produce from Firebaugh farms, allowing customers to support their own workers; and also reduces emissions from travel. A sustainable design concept is applied through the use of solar panels; water-saving plumbing fixtures; using local construction materials, energy-saving appliances and eco-friendly furnitures. Biophilia concept was incorporated in new parking lot landscaping and interior planters.
